"Emptiness and its link to colour has its spiritual basis in a famous Buddhist-inspired phrase; “Colour is emptiness; emptiness is colour”. Here colour refers to the shimmering manifestation of the phenomenal world…the more this manifestation is animated by emptiness which reveals its unfathomable mystery, the better expressed it is” (Cheng 1994 p.81).Qu Zao (2008) suggests, “emptiness as an ‘empty space’ is profound and infinite. It is not accumulated by definiteness. It is the ‘space of innerness’, the ‘space of spirit’ and the ‘space of thinking’ of human beings, where unknown mysterious power exists.
